Taika David Waititi is a New Zealand director, screenwriter, actor, and comedian. He first gained notoriety when his short film Two Cars, One Night was nominated for an Academy Award. His second feature film, Boy, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. During its release in New Zealand, it was recieved well from both critics and moviegoers. His fourth feature film, Hunt for Wilderpeople, broke box office history when it became the highest grossing film in New Zealand. In 2016 Waititi began directing Thor: Ragnorok, making it his first big budget film from Hollywood.
